New Year’s Eve Celebration
Sunday 31st December 2006
‘Even better than last year!’ This was the unanimous verdict on the colourful, toe-tapping extravaganza that rounded off the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration at El-Shaddai International Christian Centre, Bradford.
With over 900 in attendance, the milestone event started with praise and worship and a selection of inspiring testimonies from members whose lives had been totally turned around since joining the church in the previous year. This was followed by a dynamic and prophetic message from Dr Jerome Anekwe in which he declared that 2007 would be a year for breaking out on every side and experiencing the manifested goodness of God – like ‘days of heaven on earth’.
After a short break for refreshments, the celebrations continued with a stunning cabaret performance featuring special song and dance items from a host of nations including Brazil, Sierra Leone, Botswana, Jamaica and India. With styles ranging from rock and reggae to hip-hop and rap, everyone was in party mood and quite literally ‘dancing in the aisles’.
At 11.59pm we joined the rest of the country in counting down the seconds to midnight with a live link up to Big Ben, courtesy of the BBC and a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne. The party atmosphere continued into the early hours of 2007 until a final reprise from the El-Shaddai dancers signalled the end of a wonderful evening and the beginning of a brand new, exciting year.
