Mothering Sunday Service

2nd March 2008

There was hardly a dry eye in the house on Sunday 2nd March when we celebrated Mother’s Day in style with two special services dedicated to extolling the virtues of motherhood in general and honouring mums of all ages and backgrounds.

As all the mothers were asked to stand, the children were ushered out to the front to a sea of yellow daffodils in baskets. Clutching their bunches of flowers, they eagerly set off around the hall to present their mums with their special Mother’s Day gift.

Then, as a special surprise item, Pastors Jerome and Ruth presented El-Shaddai’s first ever ‘Supermum’ awards to mothers in four different categories: single mothers, young mothers, established mothers and grandmothers. Each special lady was given a beautiful bouquet and a gift-wrapped CD series as Pastors honoured them publicly before proud friends and family members and the rest of the church.

The whole morning was given over to celebrating women of all ages, circumstances and backgrounds, culminating in Dr Anekwe’s message entitled, ‘The Uniqueness of a Woman.’

And for all you men out there...Father’s Day is coming, so watch this space!
