Christmas Carol Service
23rd December 2007
An atmospheric candlelit setting provided the perfect setting for El-Shaddai Bradford’s Christmas Carol Service. With traditional Christmas readings, stirring congregational carols and excellent solo performances from the ESICC Worship Team, this was an ideal event for inviting guests who might not otherwise set foot in a church building.
This year it was the children who ‘stole the show’ however, with the younger age group performing a special nativity item with Mary, Joseph, wise men, shepherds and angels taking centre-stage in full costume whilst a choir of ‘carol singers’ dressed in woolly coats and hats accompanied them with the words of the song ‘Come and Worship.’ An entertaining sketch followed by the older children, giving us a real insight into the thoughts and feelings of those shepherds on a hillside near Bethlehem two thousand years ago.
The family atmosphere continued as the congregation spilled out into the foyer for some delicious mulled punch and mince pies. As one guest was overheard to say, ‘Christmas has really started now.’
